Ever so brief, a sliver of light, escapes from the narrow opening in the clouds behind us, as myself, my students and a host of other photographers take up our positions along the elevated snow covered sidewalk that parallels the roadway and bridge that overlooks the Town on Reine, Norway, a town that could easily become the home for the cast and storyline of the famous Christmas movie, It’s A Wonderful Life, IF a Norwegian version were ever made!
Metering was a quick decision, Sunny 16 + 1, so F/11 @1/100 second with 100 ISO instead of the usual F/16 @ 1/100 because the brief shot of direct sunlight never quite cleared the low hanging lip of the mouth-like opening in the sky.
With the exposure complete, all that remained (and was later shared with my students that evening) was a quick one-minute of post-processing with the tool Selective Color, (discussed in my book Understanding Color) and here is the result.
And once again, more evidence was gathered on this morning, that myself and my students were indeed enjoying a truly wonderful life!
