Majestic, regal, powerful are but a few words to describe the horses of the Camargue, (salt marshes near Marseilles) in Provence, France. My July workshop in Provence France includes a stop here. Perhaps you’ve seen photographs of these horses by other photographers!? Many photographers have shot these horses over the years, (after paying the fee’s) and with the help of the cowboys and cowgirls, the horses are gathered up, and on cue, (see attached video) they gallop through the shallow waters during the late afternoon light, as fast shutter speeds and a high-speed motor drive setting are used and voila-one more box checked off your bucket list! Although they are obviously horses, it really feels almost as easy as shooting fish in a barrel.
