Of the many many images I captured during my three days in Varanasi last March, the images I captured of the constant activity along the banks of the Ganges River, (while seated/standing in my hired row boat), remain my favorites, this image of course being part of that favorite group. At first glance it might appear you are looking at a flag, but its actually laundry... drapes, table cloths, sheets, washed moments ago in the river and now laid out to dry atop concrete stairs, where one man is tasked with keeping those same steps swept clean, his vitally important role in this simple and colorful moment, no doubt unbeknownst to him.....row row row your boat..and you keep shooting!
