Description: It was a balmy 11°F when I arrived at Nubble Lighthouse in York Maine at 3:30am on December 14, 2018 to capture the peak of the Geminid Meteor Shower. I set my White Balance to Fluorescent to cool off the white light coming from the spotlight in front of the lighthouse. I composed in landscape mode with 1/3 water and 2/3 sky, with the lighthouse about 1/3 in from the left. I set the focal length to 17mm to capture as much of the sky as possible, and locked the shutter to shoot continuous images for the next 2 hours. At 5:35am we were frozen solid and talking about leaving when this super bright meteor lit up the sky and left us breathless. Three minutes later, the Christmas lights came on and blew out the exposure, so we packed up and left. The position of the meteor lent itself to a vertical composition so I cropped the original image, shifting the light house to 1/3 in from the right. I pumped up the clarity and dehaze in Lightroom to accentuate the meteor and stars.
