I recently wrapped up my Maui, Hawaii workshop. Of course we had a great workshop, (it was Maui after-all, so why wouldn’t it be great) and all of us surely added more pages to our life stories, some of the pages more memorable than others, including several very dramatic pages; On two separate occasions, on two different days, the first being a Thursday, the incoming ocean surf completely soaked MY New Nikon D850 and Full Frame Fish Eye lens, a few minutes after creating the image of the surf and starfish you see here. Two days later, Saturday, a New Nikon D500, belonging to a student was inundated by a seven foot wall of ocean surf, (you can watch, in slow-motion no less, that actual video on my IG Story page). In both cases, I jumped to the ‘rescue’ showering each camera with several nearby bottles of fresh drinking water, then followed it up with a good towel dry, then placed each camera into the full sunlight, ‘baking’ each one for the better part of two hours, and I was NOT SURPRISED and I am pleased to report, both cameras are back to operating as ‘new’. Three cheers to Nikon and their latest ‘weather sealing’ technology.
I am now in Norway for the next 10 days. We’ll see how the D850 performs going from the heat in Maui to the cold here in Norway. Something tells me it will be just fine!
Regarding the fisheye mage: Nikon D850, Nikkor Full Frane Fish Eye, F/11@1/20 sec. 50 ISO, and a ‘3-stop Graduated Filter’ was added in post-processing.
