I wanted to share with you, at least one very quick way to make a compelling portrait, arguably even more compelling by making it ‘gritty’. This first portrait of a local farmer, enjoying a cornhusk/tobacco leaf smoke, near Bagan, Myanmar IS no doubt gritty, especially when compared to the second image, the ‘untouched’ original. And how hard was it to make this first image full of grit?
In Adobe Camera Raw, I merely moved the CLARITY slider to the right, stopping at +55, give or take, and voila, gritty it became.
