In much the same way the sculpture gazes at the rock before them, with chisel and hammer at the ready, the gifted and extremely talented make-up artist/model ‘Natt’, finds herself staring in the mirror, staring not at a blank canvas, but rather at the as yet unplanted terrain of her sculpted face. Sometimes, only minutes pass, other times, hours, but it is always worth the wait.
I sit back with both wonder and amazement, all the while watching with great awe and excitement, this thing, practiced by Natt, this thing more commonly referred to as the creative process.
Finally, it’s my ‘turn’ yet who am I kidding? The ART sits before me, haunting, looking into my lens. My role in this is so minimal. Move a light here or there, and then attempt to create a mood with that light by fiddling with my camera’s controls, yet still intensely satisfying. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
